NSC Chairman Shehu Dikko Congratulates Super Eagles on World Cup Qualifier Victory

The Chairman of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Shehu Dikko, has congratulated the Super Eagles on their impressive victory against Rwanda in the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers.
According to Naija News, a brace from Victor Osimhen secured a comfortable win for the Eagles in their qualifying match.
In a statement on Saturday, Dikko attributed the team’s success to thorough preparation, competence, and capability. He praised head coach Eric Chelle for orchestrating a brilliant performance in Rwanda and commended President Bola Tinubu for his unwavering support in revitalizing Nigerian sports.
Dikko urged the Eagles to maintain their momentum as they prepare to face Zimbabwe in their second qualifier on Tuesday in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
Expressing his delight, he said:
“I am extremely pleased with the Super Eagles’ performance against Rwanda in Kigali. This victory has put Nigeria firmly in contention for the sole qualification ticket from Group C in the CAF (Africa) 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers.
“On behalf of the entire Nigerian sports community and the nation, I extend my heartfelt congratulations to the Super Eagles players and the technical crew, led by Eric Chelle. Their brilliant and confident display secured the crucial win in Kigali, despite playing in front of over 60,000 Rwandan fans. The Nigerian supporters were also phenomenal, providing the team with motivation and energy throughout the match.”
Dikko emphasized that the success in Kigali was a result of meticulous planning and execution:
“This victory exemplifies the principle of ‘preparation meets competence and capability.’ The Super Eagles are a talented and exceptional team, and the NSC, in collaboration with the NFF, took a strategic approach by commencing preparations months in advance. He also acknowledged the crucial role played by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in supporting Nigerian sports:
