PSG Edge Past Liverpool on Penalties to Reach Quarter-Finals

Nunez, Jones Fail On Penalty As PSG Knocks Liverpool Out Of Champions League Title Race

Paris Saint-Germain overturned a 1-0 first-leg deficit against Liverpool, advancing to the Champions League quarter-finals after a dramatic penalty shootout at Anfield.

Ousmane Dembélé’s early strike leveled the aggregate score, but neither side could break the deadlock in regulation or extra time. PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma proved decisive in the shootout, saving penalties from Darwin Núñez and Curtis Jones. Meanwhile, Vitinha, Gonçalo Ramos, Dembélé, and Désiré Doué all converted their spot-kicks, sending the French champions through.

Still seeking their first Champions League title, PSG will now meet either Aston Villa or Club Brugge in the next round. Villa, holding a 3-1 advantage from the first leg, will host the Belgian side on Wednesday.

Arsenal Face Suspension Concerns Ahead of Potential Quarter-Final

Arsenal, heavily favored to progress after a 7-1 first-leg thrashing of PSV, could be without key players for their quarter-final clash against Real Madrid or Atlético Madrid. Jurriën Timber, Gabriel Martinelli, and Raheem Sterling are all one booking away from suspension, having each received two yellow cards in the competition.

Under UEFA rules, players accumulating three yellow cards before the semi-finals face a one-match ban. Yellow cards will be wiped after the quarter-finals, but another booking in the second leg against PSV would rule any of the trio out of the next round.

Ratcliffe Targets Premier League Title by 2028

Manchester United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe has set an ambitious goal for the club to win the Premier League by 2028, coinciding with their 150th anniversary. Since Ratcliffe’s arrival last summer, CEO Omar Berrada has reinforced this target, despite the club’s struggles with financial regulations, mounting debt, and inconsistent performances.

While acknowledging the challenges ahead, Ratcliffe remains optimistic about restoring United to the pinnacle of English football within the next four years.
