Federation Cup: EFCC FC Clinches Final Spot with 1-0 Victory Over Galadima FC

Victory Over Galadima FC

EFCC FC secured a hard-fought 1-0 win against Galadima FC on Monday, earning their place in the final of the FCT President Federation Cup at the Area 3 football pitch in Abuja. According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the match was a tightly contested affair, with both sides creating numerous scoring chances in the first half, yet neither managing to break the deadlock by halftime.

In the second half, the intensity surged as EFCC FC ramped up their attacking pressure, determined to find the breakthrough. Despite launching wave after wave of attacks, their efforts were met by a resolute Galadima FC defense. The visitors’ forwards were particularly impressive in their defensive work, consistently neutralizing EFCC FC’s attempts with a combination of relentless effort and smart positioning.

The turning point came in the 64th minute when a precise pass from Abubakar Aliyu reached Uche Obinna. Seizing the moment, Obinna slotted the ball into the net with finesse, igniting jubilation on the EFCC FC bench and delivering the decisive goal that would ultimately seal the match.

After the final whistle, Galadima FC captain Samuel Benjamin expressed his disappointment over the 1-0 loss. “I am not happy with the outcome. We prepared to win, but today wasn’t our day. EFCC FC was lucky to take the win. I attributed the loss to our error in concentration. In the second half, our opponents increased the pressure, and we lost focus. Our goal was to score, but they remained calm and composed,” Benjamin remarked. Despite the setback, he acknowledged that reaching the semifinals marked a significant milestone for his team and would serve as a stepping stone for their upcoming campaign in the Nationwide League One (NLO).

EFCC FC Head Coach Kabiru Sani also celebrated the achievement, noting that this victory marked the club’s sixth consecutive final appearance since 2019. “I am grateful to God that our strategy worked out. Galadima FC gave us a good fight, and I respect their character. My team missed some scoring opportunities but adjusted our strategy with midfield changes to play effectively from the flanks,” Sani explained.

NAN reports that EFCC FC will now face the winner of the FWC FC versus N-Youth Football Academy clash in the final, scheduled for February 22 at the Area 3 football pitch in Abuja.
