Ademola Lookman Returns To Atalanta Training, Toppmoller Unfazed By Osimhen Absence

Nigerian forward, Ademola Lookman was back on the training pitch with Atalanta on Thursday, rejoining his teammates under the eye of head coach Ivan Juric.

Ademola Lookman had been frozen out of the squad after pushing for a move to Inter Milan in August, but his return signals a possible fresh start in Bergamo.

According to Gazzetta, Lookman linked up with the squad after their return from Paris, where Atalanta fell to defending champions Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League.

Despite his absence at club level, the 27-year-old has remained active, featuring twice for Nigeria earlier this month in World Cup qualifying.

Lookman is now in line for his first Serie A appearance of the season when Atalanta take on Torino this weekend. With only one win recorded so far in the league, Juric could see the winger’s pace and direct play as a much-needed spark for La Dea.

In Germany, Eintracht Frankfurt boss Dino Toppmoller has made it clear that Victor Osimhen’s absence will not alter his approach ahead of Thursday’s Champions League clash with Galatasaray.

Osimhen picked up an ankle injury while on international duty with Nigeria against Rwanda and will not feature at Deutsche Bank Park. Yet Toppmoller remained calm when asked about the striker’s unavailability.

“Whether he plays or not is irrelevant to us. Both teams will have eleven top players on the pitch tomorrow,” he told reporters.

Frankfurt are targeting a strong performance at home, while Galatasaray must find a way to adapt without their star forward.
