The sports authorities of Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) is set to announce a new coach for the club today, Thursday, Complete Sports writes.
This announcement was made by 3SC General Manager Rasheed Balogun a few days ago after coach Kadiri Ikhana left the club.
There are four contenders for the position, and these Okey Emordi, Zachary Baraje, and Gbenga Ogunbote plus another unidentified applicant.
“We’ll announce the appointment of a new coach on Thursday (today),” manager Rasheed Balogun said. “We have about four coaches on the list. They have held talks with the management. By Thursday, we’ll make public who our choice is amongst them. Let’s wait till Thursday morning before we know who replaces Kadiri Ikhana as our coach.”
The contenders for 3SC coaching position are all high-flying team managers. Okey Emordi might leave City of David United if he is chosen as the new 3SC coach. He was made the CAF Coach of the Year in 2004 after he led Enyimba football club to win the CAF Champions League and the NPFL title for that year. He had worked as manager of Enugu Rangers, Heartland, and Kano Pillars.
Zachary Baraje left Plateau United nearly two months ago. He had coached 3SC in 1995 and led the team to win the domestic league title of that year.
Gbenga Ogunbote on the other hand had also been with 3SC in the past. He came to Shooting Stars after leaving Sharks, and then left 3SC again for FC Giwa. But he resigned from FC Giwa on Wednesday and now trying to pitch his tent again with 3SC.
While a new coach will be appointed today, formers players of the club Friday Christopher and Bright Omokaro had been managing the team in lieu of a substantive coach.
