One of late South Africa’s Nelson Mandela grandsons, 24-year-old Mbuso Mandela, has been arraigned before a South African court on charges of raping a 15-year-old teen.
Mbuso Mandela was arrested on Saturday and has remained in police custody since then.
According to police prosecutors, Mbuso allegedly raped the teen on August 7 at a restaurant in Greenside, a suburb of Johannesburg.
Mbuso has appeared before a federal judge for a second time this week, and it is left for the judge to consider whether to grant him bail or not. But then, chances of a bail depend on the evidence presented by his defence lawyers for his release.
Members of the Mandela family were all in court in Johannesburg to witness the proceeding, and to call for his bail and release.
