Following the relentless manner in which the new activist group, Niger Delta Avengers, has been bombing oil installations across Nigeria and causing the country to lose billions of dollars a day in oil revenue, the Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) has pledged its support for the new militant group – Naija247News reports.

Considering the fact that Niger Delta Avengers has been calling for the release of detained director of Radio Biafra and leader of IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, MASSOB is glad the Avengers is systematically calling for the creation of the state of Biafra.

Comrade Uchenna Madu, national leader of MASSOB said in a statement that the group will pledge support and allegiance to the Avengers and any other pro-Biafra militants from the Niger Delta region.

“The consistency, selflessness and pragmatism of these Biafra warriors gladdens our hearts,” Madu wrote. “It shows and proves the positiveness and acceptability of Biafra by our brethren across the Niger.”

He noted that campaigners for the state of Biafra would not use violent approach to claiming their demands, but “We shall also support every genuine, legitimate methodology and approach chosen by any group towards Biafran self determination.”

In a related development, the Avengers on Friday blew up oil pipelines belonging to Eni, the parent company of Nigerian Agip Oil Company (NAOC) in Bayelsa State, leading to loss of 65,000 barrels of oil per day, Daily Post reports.

A spokesman from Eni’s Media Relations Unit wrote in an email to News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that “The total deferred production due to the attack is 65,000 barrels of oil equivalent daily. I can confirm that. There is no further impact on production, since all production from the swamp area has already been stopped days ago.”

To this extent, Nigeria loses about $3.12 million per day so long NOAC is out of oil production.
